first, a simple bird bath that can be mounted in a variety of ways - this will make for good images of birds splashing about. You can also get them in ceramics - you could make your own with a simple coil pot if you have access to a big kiln....this one is cheap and cheerful!

Here's the simple nesting box plan from RSPB - with measurements for a large or small box - depending on species - we would need to figure out a way to include the camera. RSPB's own nesting box with camera housing is a bit more fancy - see earlier posting:
My idea would be to use a post camera housing and a feeder/water dish. Bird Tables are prone to attract the pigeons, whereas only smaller species can use a fine mesh or acrylic feeder. These types are also quite easy to clean out which is most important - see notes below on hygiene...
